Join us to celebrate 80 years since the end of the Second World War in Europe. From 8pm ‘Off the Scale’ Fish and Chip van will be in the car park of the castle, so you have an opportunity to buy a Fish and Chip supper as part of the National celebrations before we light the beacon at 9.30pm. Just beforehand there will be the National proclamation, and afterwards an opportunity to sing along to some well known wartime songs.
This year we have a new brazier style beacon, which will look wonderful in the setting of the castle ruins.
The event is weather dependant, and won’t go ahead if the winds are very strong, or it is raining.
Please walk to the castle if you can as parking is very limited. The Parish Council will leave the gates open in the ‘top’ car park of Donnington Recreation Ground accessed from Castle Lane, but the gates will be locked again after 10.30pm, so please don’t leave your car there after that!
