Shaw-cum-Donnington Gardening Club is holding its Autumn Show on Saturday at the Village Hall, and everyone is welcome – details below:

Wantage Road in the Parishes of Winterbourne, Chieveley and Shaw Cum Donnington will be closed on the 4th September 2023, between the hours of 09:30 – 15:30, from its’ junction with Oxford Road and School Lane. This closure is to enable Volker Highways to carry out routine gully cleansing on behalf of West Berkshire Council.
A diversion will be signed on-site

The planned closure of Long Lane between 21 August and 3 September has been cancelled by the contractors due to a lack of resources available to complete the works in the timescale planned.
Castle Lane in the Parish of Shaw Cum Donnington will be closed from the 21st – 23rd August 2023, between the hours of 08:00 – 17:00, from the junction of B4494 Oxford Road to property known as The Cottage. This closure is to enable Volker Highways to carry out resurfacing work to the carriageway on behalf of West Berkshire Council.
The work will be completed in two sections to maintain access across Shop Lane junctions.

Long Lane in the Parish of Shaw-Cum-Donnington will be closed on the 21st August to 4th September 2023, the closure will be between its junction with Highwood Close and its junction with Fishers Lane.
The diversion route (suitable to all vehicles) is expected to be via – (B4009) Newbury Rd, to Streatley Hill, Reading Rd (A329) to Pangbourne, A340 to Theale, A4 Bath Rd to Newbury, onto the B4009 (Shaw Hill) via the Robin Hoods Roundabout, and vice versa.
A local diversion for light vehicles (non-HGV) may be signed on site.
The purpose of this closure is for Thames Water to install new mains and service connections along this route.
Residential access will be maintained throughout, and the diversion will be signed on site.
Please Note: Blue light access will be via diversion route or another suitable alternative route.

Road Closure for Castle Lane Donnington
Project Notification Ref: PRJ23-433
Description: Carriageway resurfacing on Castle Lane, Donnington
West Berkshire Council’s contractor Volker Highways Ltd will be undertaking essential carriageway resurfacing on Castle Lane, Donnington as indicated in the residents’ letter.
Works will be undertaken with a road closure and signed alternative diversion route. No on street parking will be permitted within the works and at times access to properties and businesses will be restricted or delayed as the resurfacing passes. Recreational access to Donnington Castle will be unavailable on Monday 21 August 2023, English Heritage have been notified.
Access WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE to emergency vehicles on a blue light call under site supervision.
The start date and duration of work may change if wet weather occurs – residents have been instructed to look at the information board on site for revised dates.

West Berkshire Council’s contractor Volker Highways Ltd., will be undertaking preliminary works and then essential carriageway surfacing on B4009 Shaw Road, Newbury from 23 – 27 July between the hours of 7pm and midnight.
Works will be undertaken with a road closure and signed alternative diversion route. No on street parking will be permitted within the works and at times access to properties and businesses will be restricted or delayed as the resurfacing passes.
Access WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE to emergency vehicles on a blue light call under site supervision.
Safe pedestrian routes will be available during the work.
The start date and duration of work may change if wet weather occurs – residents have been instructed to look at the information board on site for revised dates.

Shaw-cum-Donnington Gardening Club is donating plants to the sale after last Monday’s Party in the Park event, where it had a stall, was cancelled due to waterlogged grounds. See your there!
